CCHS Homecoming: There’s No “I” in Team

CCHS Team T-shirt Day

(Editor’s note: This is a week-long series by Wheeling Central Catholic High School students chronicling the events and traditions of homecoming week and how it shapes their perspective on life and the world around them).

The positive idea behind any tradition is to create unity, pride and togetherness for a group of people. The students, faculty and staff of Central Catholic High School certainly continue to demonstrate this during the many Homecoming Week traditions. This all started with the Rosary Rally on Sunday and continued today when students, faculty and staff were encouraged to “sport” their favorite team jersey.  Throughout the day the hallways were filled with Steelers, Packers, Vikings, Penguins and many more as faculty, staff and students showed off their favorite teams. Although there was much “discussion” about whether my team (Go Pirates!) was better than someone else’s team,  it was all in good fun.

Having traditions like this during Homecoming Week and other times throughout the year  provides a camaraderie among students, faculty and staff alike.  In short, it is so much fun to share this Homecoming Week with our extended CCHS family. And, on a side note, since I am graduating this year, I hope there is someone who will don the Pittsburgh Pirates jersey during Homecoming Week 2017.  After all, it is tradition.  Go, Knights!
