Gracie Curran at BluesDays

Gracie Curran will bring her “jaw-dropping” blues and soul to River City Restaurant at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.

“One of the hardest working blues artists on the circuit, Gracie’s bare feet should have calluses on them for as many miles as she puts on them while spreading the blues — performing in her bare feet. Gracie doesn’t like shoes,” said Bruce Wheeler, who brings BluesDays to River City and produces the Heritage Music BluesFest at Heritage Port in Wheeling.

Curran, a Blues Music Award nominee, Boston Music Award winner and house band at the world-famous Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street in Memphis, Tenn., is thrilled to return to Wheeling, as it holds many special memories for her.

“Getting to play the Heritage Music BluesFest in 2014 was really a big deal for us. We were a new band and just starting to tour, so to have an opportunity like that, I am so grateful to Bruce for inviting us to play and introducing us to the amazing Wheeling blues family,” Curran said.

“Since then we’ve come back and played River City, and it’s so awesome to have folks that saw us way back in 2014, come out to see us every time we come back. They’ve been right there with us, for the past four years, supporting us and cheering us on; so I’m particularly excited to see those familiar faces, and to play some new music for them. Another reason I am so grateful for our first Wheeling fest is because it’s where I met Damon Fowler for the first time, and we just worked together on my new album.”

That album, “Come Undone,” is due out this year. In the five years since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, “Proof of Love,” she has been packing venues across the country and around the world.

Wheeling is also where she met Billy Evanochko. “I am super excited to have Billy the Kid and The Regulators back me up on this tour. The Wheeling fans are going to get something really special this show — and we can’t wait!”

Tuesday’s show will feature Billy the Kid and the Steeltown Allstars with Curran.
