The OVMC Auxiliary will welcome award-winning journalist, bestselling author, motivational speaker, and women’s health and wellness advocate, Joan Lunden to the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling.
The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 26.
Lunden has been a trusted voice in American homes for more than 30 years. For nearly two decades, Lunden greeted viewers each morning on Good Morning America bringing insight to the day’s top stories. As the longest running female host ever on early morning television, she reported from 26 countries, covered five presidents, five Olympics, and kept Americans up to date on how to care for their homes, their families and their health.
Lunden continues to be a trusted personality as a special correspondent on the Today Show and host of the CBS series Your Health. She also interacts with women every day about health, wellness, lifestyle tips, family and boomer information from her website www.JoanLunden.com.
Lunden is a mother of seven, including two sets of pre-teen twins. She is a breast cancer survivor who went through chemotherapy, surgery and radiation to battle her triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis in 2014. She now serves as ambassador for Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer, advocates for patients on Capitol Hill, and actively communicates with the cancer community through her social media and on her website.
Like many boomers in America, she has juggled being a working mom while caring for an aging parent and brings this experience to her role as the spokesperson for the nation’s leading senior referral service.
Lunden also has served as national spokesperson for several organizations: The American Heart Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, The American Lung Association, The American Red Cross, The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Colon Cancer Alliance. She has authored nine books and truly exemplifies today’s modern working woman.
She will speak on these life experiences and also take some questions from the audience at the Capitol Theatre.
This event is brought the Ohio Valley free of charge by the OVMC Auxiliary, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people of the Ohio Valley.
This is a free event that is open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis; doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
