Although the Halloween aisle at your local grocery store has been going strong for a month, now it’s time to celebrate autumn. The first weekend of Fall is here, and there is plenty to do in Wheeling, W.Va.

Over the River and through the oil and gas fields to Barnesville, Ohio, you must go to see HUGE pumpkins and lots of other stuff to see and do.

Friday 8 p.m.
Symphonic rock gave us the era of the classic album, the mega tour, and iconic bands and songs. These legendary songs including “Whiter Shade of Pale,” “Nights in White Satin,” “Strange Magic,” “Red Rain,” and many more are brought to life by the Wheeling Symphony with Jeans ‘n Classics featuring the vocals of Jean Meilleur. This time around they will be exploring East Wheeling. Meet at the Blue Church — 1206 Byron St. Get there earlier for the group shot before we venture out.
Sunday 3-6 p.m.
It’s kind of like Oglebayfest Eve. Head to the Hess Shelter in Oglebay Park and enjoy great food from the Alpha and great live bluegrass music — all for a great cause.
