WVA Wellness Program Presents Acupressure Therapy

West Virginia Wellness, LLC, in conjunction with its mission to provide education and learning about Alternative types of therapy, will present Kari Sand-Jecklin, MSN, RN, AHN-BC on Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Ohio County Library at 3 p.m.

“Acupressure is a complementary therapy similar to acupuncture, except that the provider uses gentle finger pressure rather than thin needles to stimulate acupoints on the skin,” Sand-Jecklin explained.

“Acupressure has been used for thousands of years to assist in management of a number of health conditions as well as to promote holistic well-being. In fact, a number of studies have shown acupressure is effective in managing nausea, pain, anxiety and insomnia,” she said.

Her presentation will include a background in the reasoning behind the use of acupressure as well as demonstrations of some simple acupressure points that have been found for symptom management.
