Author Phyllis Sigal

Phyllis Sigal

After nearly 38 years in the newspaper business, Phyllis has changed paths – closed one book and opened another. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980, she started work at The Times Leader and held the positions of reporter, St. Clairsville Bureau Chief, Lifestyles Editor and Managing Editor/Design. In 1998, Phyllis moved to the Wheeling newspapers, The Intelligencer and News-Register, as Design Editor. On Feb. 1, she became Weelunk’s first Managing Editor, working with writers and managing the content on the site, as well as writing feature stories. Phyllis is married to Bruce Wheeler. Along with their children, Amanda and Leland, son-in-law Chris, and two grandchildren, Norah and Henry, food, wine, travel, theater and music are close to their hearts. The family also presents the Heritage Music BluesFest each August at Wheeling’s Heritage Port.
