Springdale The Springdale neighborhood grew with the establishment of Wheeling Park in the early 20th century. Springdale is solely a residential neighborhood, almost exclusively made up of single-family houses. The neighborhood is close to Wheeling Park and its entertainment opportunities such as swimming, ice skating, golfing, and walking. It is located very close to the businesses and amenities of Elm Grove, as well as all of the businesses along National Road. Springdale is a great commuting location because it is just minutes away from the intersections of I-470, I-70, and Route 40 (National Road). Doc and Chickie Williams, influential country music performers, called Springdale home. When the couple was given an opportunity to join the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, they declined because Chickie wanted to remain in Wheeling, her home.Springdale is a walkable, family friendly community.
