Fall is just around the corner! If you haven’t noticed those great, crisp, cool nights we’ve been having, I’m sure you’ve noticed a few (or hundreds) of pumpkin related posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. As sad as the end of summer may be, the beginning of fall brings all new opportunities for adventure, and what better place to enjoy the beautiful fall leaves than surrounded by the majestic hills of Marshall County?
If you’re looking to kick off your fall celebration, look no further than the Uptown Moundsville Activities Committee (UMAC) Fall Festival on the Avenue. The festival is to take place on Saturday, Sept.19 from 10 a.m. – 5p.m., between 2nd & 5th streets on Jefferson Avenue. There will be live entertainment, handmade crafts, great food, and more! To find out more, head over to the Moundsville UMAC Facebook page.
As the Fall Festival wraps up, don’t be alarmed if you begin to see the undead. You’re not seeing things; the Moundsville Zombie Walk will follow the festival and begin at 6 p.m. on Sept.19 on Jefferson Avenue. Bring a canned food item with you to participate. Check out their Facebook page for all the information you’ll need!
If the Zombie Walk leaves you itching for more up-close zombie action, look no further than the Former W.Va. Penitentiary! Zombies have been running loose in the South Yard, and they could use some help clearing the area. Head over to the West Virginia Penitentiary any Friday or Saturday between 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. to test your skills at the Zombie Paintball. The Dungeon of Horrors will also begin at the Penitentiary on Sept. 25!!
If becoming or hunting zombies isn’t your thing, you could always go to Grand Vue Park for the Pawpawpalooza. The pawpaw yoga hike starts at noon with a 2-3 mile hike followed by a yoga session at the amphitheater. Live music begins at 6 p.m. with three different bands. Finish your evening Sept. 19 with a Night Time Zip Line at 9 p.m.
Don’t forget to share all of these adventures with the Greater Moundsville Convention and Visitors Bureau by posting on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and tagging!
