Can the Arts Paint Wheeling’s Revitalization?

Sunday 7 p.m.

The arts have the power to inspire and to engage. But can they revitalize a historic city?

Susan Hogan and a panel of local experts have much to say on this topic, and will at the next program in the Temple Shalom Social Action Lecture Series, Sunday, Jan. 31, at Temple Shalom.

Hogan, a longtime advocate for the arts in the city, will moderate a panel that includes Robert Villamagna, assistant professor of art and director of the Nutting Gallery at West Liberty University, Erika Donaghy, chair of the Mayor’s Arts and Cultural Commission, and Jake Dougherty, director of Downtown Wheeling.

Together, the panelists will describe how a vibrant arts scene can partner with commerce and historic preservation to create an unprecedented energy in the Friendly City.
