What do you think of when you hear the name “Nini”? Glitz and glamour and sparkle and impeccable style perhaps?
Nini Zadrozny is the impeccably styled owner of Nini’s Treasures, which has been in business in the Ohio Valley since March of 1995 — going on 24 years!
The successful boutique has found a home at The Highlands, near the Marriott/Fairfield Inn & Suites, across from Bubba’s Burghers. Her original store was located at Stratford Springs for 14 years. She relocated to The Highlands in 2009 and then, in June of 2017, she moved a few hundred feet down the street to her new, bigger store.
And if you’ve not visited the newest “Nini’s,” now is a perfect time — it’s a virtual wonderland for gift shopping! She offers items from Brighton, Mudpie, Ruffle Butts, Milkbarn, Keren Hart, Joseph RIbkoff, Vera Bradley and Pandora, just to name a few. If you can’t find the perfect present here, well, you’re just not looking hard enough!
Nini, a Mount de Chantal grad, has lived in Ohio Valley her whole life. She received her bachelor’s of science degree in medical technology from then-West Liberty State College, and went to work in the chemistry division of Ohio Valley Medical Center.
But she traded in chemistry after 20 years for Au (gold!) and Ag (silver!) to open her shop. Her slogan is “Nini’s Treasures, a unique boutique, totally new, yet totally you!” Sounds like her life took the lead from her slogan … or vice versa!
Nini’s shining stars are her husband, Pat, to whom she’s been married for 35 years, and her son Patrick, a physical therapist at East Ohio Regional Hospital, and daughter Lydia, manager and “marketeer” of Nini’s Treasures. Three more lights of her life are her granddaughters: Reese 3 1/2, Lola 15 months, and Carmella, 10 months.
Here’s what Nini answered when WEEasked:
What is your favorite view in the Ohio Valley?
My favorite view in the Ohio Valley is the view above The Highlands looking down at night with all the lights shining brightly because I know that down below this view is my store, Nini’s Treasures, which I am very proud of.
Tell us something that would surprise Weelunk readers about you?
Something that would surprise people about me is that on my day off I don’t go shopping, but would rather stay at home!
Brunch or dinner: What’s your favorite meal out and why?
I prefer dinner out because after a long day of working I can really relax and enjoy myself more, especially with friends and family.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is waiting on customers because I get to know them better and get a real feel for what they are looking for, and have fun with the challenge! Many are established customers, so it’s like they are part of the Nini’s Treasures family.
What’s your favorite night out on the town?
My favorite night out on the town is visiting special eateries where they know me … Ye Olde Alpha, Abbey’s and Figaretti’s, to name a few.
What’s your wish for Wheeling?
My wish for Wheeling is to remember the good old days when people would shop store to store, and the city streets, malls and shopping centers were full with lots of hustle and bustle, as opposed to people looking on their phones or computers to make a quick purchase.
