New support group for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities to begin in Wheeling this July

A new in-person support group for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities and/or special healthcare needs will hold its first meeting on July 16, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at the August Levy Learning Center in Wheeling, W.Va. The group will continue to meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to share information, resources, laughter and support.

Circle of Parents support groups provide friendly, supportive environments led by parents and other caregivers who have lived experience raising a child with a disability. It’s a place where anyone in a parenting role can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children with disabilities and/or special healthcare needs. It’s a place where they can find and share support.

Attendees will:

  • Be a part of a supportive community of parents and caregivers.
  • Discuss the challenges and successes of parenting children with special health care needs, share ideas and network with others in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
  • Learn about local resources and opportunities to support your family.

To help plan space and materials, please register in advance. This support group is a partnership between the Augusta Levy Learning Center and the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities. Meetings will be held at the Augusta Levy Learning Center located at Suite 300, 210 Anthoni Avenue in Wheeling.
