The Children’s Museum is Hiring

The Children’s Museum of the Ohio Valley is seeking a Museum Manager to provide leadership and management, coordinate Museum activities, and direct the efforts of Museum staff. The position is part-time for 25-30 hours per week. The Museum Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and supervises the Programming and Exhibits Coordinator and other Museum staff.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee implementation of all Museum programming
  • Propose and create new exhibits with supplemental programming
  • Secure funding for the Museum via admission and memberships, fundraising events, donations, sponsorships and strategic partnerships, and grant-writing
  • Model positive, educational, creative and respectful ways to interact with children and their caregivers through play
  • Keep the Museum facility in a safe, clean, and attractive condition in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and ensure all Museum exhibits and equipment are maintained in a safe and operable condition
  • Coordinate marketing and outreach for the Museum including the CMOV website, email newsletter, social media, printed materials, press releases, and advertising
  • Represent the CMOV at meetings and other functions in the community
  • Ensure adequate staffing during Museum’s operational hours, and manage all Museum staff including tracking attendance and maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Manage the day-to-day expenses of the Museum including making payments, purchasing supplies, and making regular bank deposits
  • Prepare grant requests and administer grant funds
  • Provide regular updates, including financial information, to the Board of Directors
  • Work collaboratively with the Museum’s staff and Board of Directors to accomplish goals
  • Perform other duties related to the financial, program, operational, marketing, personnel, facility, and general administrative functions of the agency as directed by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • One year experience in management, education, business, or community organization
  • Understanding of the development processes in early and middle childhood
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrated community involvement and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with volunteers, children, and adult patrons of the CMOV
  • Financial management, marketing, and personnel management skills
  • Creativity and industriousness
  • Experience in grant writing preferred
