In spite of all the snow and chilly weather, spring has sprung in Moundsville and we are embracing the spirit of growth with three new upcoming attractions. Grand Vue Park, the Former West Virginia Penitentiary, and the Palace of Gold are developing new additions to their already popular destinations.
New this Week at Grand Vue Park: Aerial High Adventure Course and Trailhead Grille
Wild and wonderful starts at Grand Vue Park, beginning with a brand-new adventure park located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. One of West Virginia’s best kept secrets, Grand Vue Park is making great strides towards becoming the premier adventure destination in the northern panhandle. Projected to open on April 8th, the new Aerial High Adventure Course is equipped with a rock climbing tower, an aerial ropes course, a trampoline, a mega jump, rappelling tower, and a giant swing. To polish up your Frisbee skills in preparation for the summer, the park is also building its third disc golf course through the woods. Disc golf enthusiasts will be able to admire the legends of disc golf in the disc golf hall of fame, soon to be located inside the big red barn. On April 15th, Grand Vue Park will open the “Trailhead Grille” in a partnership with Mason Dixon BBQ Company. Along with delicious BBQ, the Trailhead Grille will feature West Virginia craft brews and a great wine selection. The restaurant will be open seven days a week with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the park’s beautiful scenery.
Escape Room attraction coming to the Penitentiary
In 2016, the Former West Virginia Penitentiary is celebrating its 20th year in the tourism business. With that milestone achievement, the penitentiary has unveiled its latest attraction, Escape the Pen: the Execution. For those who may have never heard of an escape room, it is an adventure challenge where you work together with your teammates to solve puzzles, riddles, and find clues to escape a room in under an hour. This game will be a challenging and thrilling adventure wrapped up into one great experience. Can your team escape the pen?
New Vegetarian Restaurant arrives at the Palace of Gold
Recognized as America’s Taj Mahal, the Palace of Gold is one way to experience the culture of India in West Virginia. Reminiscent of a heavenly kingdom, overlooking forests, hills, valleys, and a world renowned rose gardens, the Palace of Gold is home to the Best Vegetarian Restaurant in the Ohio Valley. New this year, the Govinda’s Vegetarian Restaurant has developed three types of menu options for its visitors. While authentic Indian cuisine is Govinda’s specialty, they also serve alternative options like vegetarian Italian dishes and traditional American vegetarian plates for the not so adventurous palate. Embrace this unique cultural experience of the Far East in the hills above Moundsville. With fantastic sights and tastes, the Palace can satisfy your appetite for food and wonder.
