The race will begin at 10 a.m. in the upper parking lot of the Good Zoo. The cost to participate is $20 per person. Guests may register in advance online until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, May 10. Race day registration will open at 9 a.m. at the main entrance of the Good Zoo. The first 50 registered participants will receive a t-shirt.
The race course will consist of the Susan Wheeler and Arboretum Trails that weave throughout the park. This hard-surface course is stroller friendly. Dogs are welcome to participate but must remain on a leash at all times.
Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place finishers in the following categories: women ages 18+; men ages 18+; girls ages 17 and under; boys ages 17 and under; and K-9s. Prizes will consist of Oglebay gift cards. Light refreshments will be provided for all participants.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Oglebay Foundation’s Access to the Parks project. This project allows local children who ordinarily would not be able to afford the facility fees at Oglebay and Wheeling Park to enjoy their favorite recreational activities including swimming, Par-3 golf, tennis, fishing, boating, skiing, ice skating, the Good Zoo and more. More than 2,000 Ohio County children participate in the program annually.
