Wheeling writer Nora Edinger is releasing a Christmas rom-com set in West Virginia’s own Canaan Valley and Snow Shoe. The free read is available through her noraedinger.com website.
“Stand Still & Chill” details the adventures of Wheeling-native Brianna Reed after a political upset in Charleston causes her to flee her high-power communications job for a six-month stint at a cross-country ski resort in Canaan Valley.
The fact the resort’s owner believes Brianna is the perfect prospective wife for his son – the general manager of a Snow Shoe lodge – adds to the happy holiday chaos.
Two other Wheeling residents played a part in the release. Phyllis Sigal, long-term newspaper journalist and graphic designer, created the cover art. Paul Exley, owner of Alpine Skis & Boards of Wheeling, provided content detail about winter sports.
“Anything I got right about skiing is thanks to Paul Exley, who was kind enough to share his expertise when I wandered into his shop while I was writing the rough draft of this work in 2018,” Edinger said. She noted that releasing the novel, her third work of fiction, as a free read is an expression of gratitude for more than 30 years in the writing business.
“I am moving into a new career season,” the former journalist said of limiting her future writing to projects of special interest. “But, it still amazes me that I was able to do so many types of work for so long. It was a blessing.”
“Stand Still & Chill” e-book is a companion novella to an earlier Match Made in Almost Heaven romance also written by Edinger. That patron-sponsored novel, “Suspended Aggravation,” was released as a weekly serial in 2020 through Weelunk magazine. Visit noraedinger.com to start reading “Stand Still & Chill” today!
