Centre Market is ready for the holidays after Volunteer Wheeling gathered on Saturday morning to spread some holiday cheer. The group decorated 18 planters with fresh pine and ornaments along Main and Market Streets in Centre Market.
“It was a simple project, but we hope it will make the area extra festive for the season,” said Ellen Gano, Volunteer Wheeling organizer. “We were in-and-out in an hour, which just goes to show that volunteering a small amount of your time does have an impact and can really make a difference in our community.”
For the last couple of years, the group has completed multiple cleanup and beautification projects throughout the city. One of the projects they completed over the summer was painting the same planters that are now decorated for the holidays.
Volunteer Wheeling meets weekly, weather permitting, and is open for anyone who wishes to help. To learn more about Volunteer Wheeling or to get involved, follow them on Facebook or contact them at volunteerwheeling@gmail.com.
