Upper Ohio Valley Festival of Books

In partnership with the Ohio County Public Library, the Wheeling Arts & Cultural Commission is hosting the 2020 Upper Ohio Valley Festival of Books (UOVFB) Livestream this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The 2020 UOVFB will showcase memoir-writing, with keynote speakers Cassie Chambers, author of Hill Women, and Bobi Conn, author of In the Shadow of the Valley. Conn will also lead a memoir writing workshop limited to 15 people. The festival will conclude with a finale for the Wheeling Reads program featuring Tara Westover’s bestselling memoir, Educated. SoundBites: An Extraordinary Culinary Musical Experience

The final concert of the SoundBites series will be a “Global Celebration,” with WSO musicians taking center stage. Go for a Fall Drive

Ohio Valley Cars n’ Coffee (OVCNC), a local group of car enthusiasts, will meet for a relaxing fall drive on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. The group will meet at Starbucks at The Highlands and hit the back roads through scenic areas with a stop at Cross Creek Park for some pictures before heading to lunch in Washington, PA. Winter Festival of Lights Begins

Beginning in 1985, the Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay in Wheeling has grown into one of the nation’s largest holiday light shows. This annual tradition kicks off this weekend and will continue nightly through Jan. 10. Merry and Bright Candy Cane Hunt

Oglebay Institute’s Schrader Environmental Center is getting in the holiday spirit with a candy cane hunt! First, create a holiday bag. Then, walk along the nature trails around the Schrader Center to see how many candy canes you can find. Certain ones may win you a prize! Afterward, enjoy hot chocolate to warm you up.
