Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth at Temple Shalom’s 32nd Annual Chocolate Extravaganza

Did someone say, chocolate? It’s that special time of year again when Temple Shalom hosts their fabulous, delectable, and fun annual Chocolate Extravaganza fundraising event! This year marks the 32nd year of this sweet event. The Chocolate Extravaganze will take place on Sunday, May 5, at Temple Shalom (23 Bethany Pike, Woodsdale) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., so mark your calendars and get your tickets before they sell out.

Temple Shalom has been hosting the event for more than three decades, and this year, it is sure to be bigger and better than ever. There will be as many as fifteen local chocolate vendors who will have samples of their chocolate treats and products on display, while they shmooze attendees from all over the Ohio Valley. In addition to the chocolate stations, there will be 10+ cakes raffled off and at least 50 door prizes from restaurants and shops around the Ohio Valley.

This event is Temple Shalom’s biggest fundraiser of the year with monies raised used to support community outreach and youth programming, such as the temple’s Holocaust Remembrance Service, guest speakers, and other programs that are open to the community. The event was initiated when the late Rabbi Lowy’s wife, Zelda, brought the idea to Roslyn Lando, who was the President of the Temple at the time. Lando explains that the event has not changed much since it began 32 years ago. To put it simply, Lando said “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!” The Chocolate Extravaganza has been an important fundraiser for the small congregation. In addition to raising funds for their programs, it brings the congregation together for a fun day of giving back.
