CATALYST

Clientele Art Studio hosts a new exhibition from local artist Zane A. Miller. His show, called CATALYST, is immersive and is free to the public and begins at 6 p.m, Friday, July 4th, through July 27th, during regular gallery hours or by appointment.  Donations accepted and will be given to volunteer programs helping those affected by the recent flooding in the area.

“Interactive art is just plain fun. I would like for people to see beyond the untouchable, through interaction, and to become part of the art” Miller said. “Through interaction and experience we can easily see that art is language that conveys message and meaning. What that message may be is up to the sort of life people bring to the space as they associate it with the experiences they have in the installation.  My hope is that people visiting will find their way to similar conclusions with regard to the art’s language and meaning. I am trying to create complex experiences through minimalist structures and design aesthetics.”

Miller, an interdisciplinary artist who is originally from Columbus, moved in 2021 to his family’s hometown of Wheeling. Zane is a skilled photographer, painter and sculptor; an all-around installation artist of many mediums.

CATALYST, is an interactive installation that uses vibrant color theory, light, reflection, and presence to tackle mixing and change in closed systems.  Throughout the month new pieces will be added to the space with different possible interactions along the theme.  “I would like for people to see themselves as different individuals as a whole, who are capable of affecting change. The show is set up like a series of science modules related to color theory and mixing.  We see in color, yellow and blue make green, different people make beautiful combinations, a celebration of difference” Miller said.

Will Wallace, owner of Clientele Art Studio, said he is excited to see this event evolve.

“Clientele’s main goal has always been to help facilitate art of all kinds in Wheeling,” Wallace said. “CATALYAST is an amazing exhibit and is exactly the type of thing Clientele was opened to host. It is something that you probably would not have seen in town before, but greatly highlights how interactive art can be, as well as how diverse our group of local artists are.”

July 4th’s event will begin at 6 p.m. at Clientele Art Studio, located at 43-15th St., Wheeling. The studio is open Fridays 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays noon to 6 p.m.
