The Library of Things at the Ohio County Public Library is full of many wonderfully fun items like board games, crafts, and musical instruments, but it also exists to help you out!
One of the goals of the Library of Things is to help the community have free access to things they need right now, but may not use every day. A key cornerstone of offering that free accessibility is through our tool collection. From fixing up your house, working on your car, or making sure your bicycle is in working order, we’ve got you covered.
Tools in our collection:

- Code Reader Set – A vehicle code reader that clears OBD engine codes, checks brake pad life, oil system life, tire pressure, and transmission temperature.
- Moisture Meter – Measures moisture levels without damaging surfaces.
- Stud Finder – Use to find studs to securely hang pictures, mirrors, shelves, and more!
- Bike Repair Tool Set – Fix up your bike and get it riding like new with this helpful tool set.
- Watt meter – Measure the electric active power (or the average of the rate of flow of electrical energy) in watts of any given circuit.
- Metal Detector – Great to use for treasure hunting, exploring historical sites, and even helping with lost or buried items.
In a similar fashion, the library strives to bring you technology that is nice to have when you need it, but can be tough to store when its not in use, such as a bulky projector, karaoke machine, or a film and slide scanner.

- Karaoke Machine – A fun way to interact with music, express yourself, and have a great time at parties and social gatherings!
- Bluetooth Speaker – A mini Bluetooth speaker that is made to travel
- TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator – Assist in mathematics and STEM concepts with this graphing calculator.
- Megatek Portable CD Player with Bluetooth – Take your music wherever you go with this portable CD player.
The Library’s mission remains to “provide free and equal access to resources that assist our community in the pursuit of knowledge, information, education, research, and recreation which promotes an enlightened citizenry, encourages lifelong learning, and enriches the quality of life.”
The Library of Things will be free and accessible to anyone with a valid OCPL library card. Patrons will be able to check out these items for a two-week time period.
