“Wheeling has always been a place rooted in support, connection, and showing up for one another, and those same values are the foundation of Rooted Love,” explains Carly Harris, life-long Wheelingite and owner of Rooted Love, a postpartum nutrition and wellness coaching practice.
Rooted in Experience, Built for Mothers
Harris has spent the last dozen years working as an occupational therapist, helping clients through recovery, rehabilitation, and building daily routines. Inspired by her own personal postpartum journey, she now uses that unique expertise and perspective to influence the whole and holistic way she offers support to new mothers. “Rooted Love grew out of my own journey through motherhood. After my first child, I felt an immense love, but also deep loneliness and postpartum anxiety—like no one truly understood what I was experiencing. My second birth brought trauma and separation, and though I felt more confident the second time, the emotional weight lingered.”

A Holistic Approach to Postpartum Wellness
Through a focus on wellness and nutrition, Harris began to heal, and more importantly reconnect with herself. She ultimately became a Certified Postpartum Nutrition Specialist to help other moms feel seen, nourished, empathized, and cared for. In the last year, Harris has collaborated with the All In By Teddi accountability program functioning as a Postpartum Coach. “While I specialize in postpartum recovery, I also support women in all seasons of motherhood by helping them create and maintain a supportive, sustainable lifestyle grounded in flexible nutrition, steady, realistic movement, and daily habits that honor both their bodies and their unique stage of life.”
The shift in motherhood mindset in care reflects direct changes made in Harris’s life and allows her the opportunity to use her skill set to help other mothers experiencing postpartum. “Embracing a lifestyle centered on nourishing nutrition, intentional movement, and mindful self-care has transformed my own experience of motherhood. It’s given me energy, clarity, and a deeper connection to my body, mind, and family. It’s also taught me the importance of patience, self-compassion, and honoring each stage of life as it comes. For my clients, they find that taking care of themselves doesn’t take away from their families, it actually strengthens the whole family dynamic. When they feel nourished, balanced, and supported, they can show up more fully for themselves and their family. It creates a ripple effect of confidence, calm, and empowerment that touches every part of their lives,” explains Harris.

Redefining What Support Looks Like
So what exactly does this process look like? Like many wellness based services, a comprehensive intake begins the process. But after intake, Harris’s experience comes into play, “I provide personalized guidance tailored to your needs, including suggested nutritional support, realistic movement, and practical self-care strategies.” Her overall goal never wavers. Harris aims to help her clients build sustainable habits, boost their energy and confidence, and most importantly, feel seen, supported, and empowered at every stage of motherhood.
Harris reflects on her early moments of motherhood and offers input for all mothers: “My biggest advice to new mothers is to be gentle and patient with yourself. You may not feel like yourself at first or ever, and that’s okay because you’re becoming a new version of you. Prioritize your own health and wellness, including nutrition, movement, and rest, without guilt. Ask for help when you need it, and remember that taking care of yourself is not selfish—it’s essential for both you and your baby.”

Harris and her husband, Erik, are settled in Wheeling, a place that has been home for the duration of her life. It is here that they’ve opted to raise their two young children. “I was born and raised in Wheeling, and this community has shaped so much of who I am—both personally and professionally. Wheeling has always been a place rooted in support, connection, and showing up for one another, and those same values are the foundation of Rooted Love. Growing up in a town where community truly matters influenced the way I care for and coach women today. Even as my work now reaches women across the country, Wheeling will always be home, and I’m grateful to continue building my business in a place I still call home.”
