There’s something bittersweet about the end of July.
The pools are still open. Fireflies still flicker. Popsicles still drip down little hands. But somewhere in the distance, backpacks have started appearing on store shelves, calendars are beginning to fill, and the rhythm of back to school quietly starts to return. But before all of that, Wheeling Country Day School wants to hit the pause button!
On Wednesday, July 29th, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the school is opening its campus for Summer Color Splash, an evening dedicated to creativity and celebrating childhood one paint splash at a time.
The event is open to everyone. You don’t have to be a WCDS family. You don’t have to have attended summer camp. You don’t even have to be considering the school.
If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a summer evening with your kids, you’re invited!
Make Memories With Us
For just $5 per child, families can explore interactive art experiences including a Splatter Paint Pit, a Color Mixing Lab, opportunities to create mini masterpieces to take home, and a collaborative community canvas that everyone can help bring to life. Families are encouraged to wear paint friendly clothing because making memories can be a little messy. Advance registration is encouraged, but families are also welcome to purchase tickets at the door!
Photographer Anna Fonner Photography will also be on site capturing colorful, paint splattered portraits, giving families another keepsake from an evening full of creativity. We’re also excited to have LaBowls on campus hosting a pop-up! If you haven’t tried one of their smoothie bowls yet, this is the perfect opportunity. Just be sure to enjoy your açaí bowl at a safe distance from the paint stations. We’d hate for your toppings to include a few paint splatters!
Summer Color Splash is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, an educational approach that believes children learn best through exploration, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful experiences. At Wheeling Country Day School, art is more than an activity. It is a way children ask questions, solve problems, express ideas, and make sense of the world around them.
