Former Wheeling resident Tucker Riggleman brings his country-rock band Tucker Riggleman & The Cheap Dates to Waterfront Hall on Friday, April 5 for a show supporting the band’s new record Restless Spirit.
The new album was released on February 17 via Charlottesville, VA indie label WarHen Records. It has been well-received, reaching an even broader audience than the band’s previous releases. On Restless Spirit, the band once again turned to Grammy-nominated producer Duane Lundy to steer the ship. Lee Carroll, longtime bandleader for Country legends The Judds, added his talents to keys and organ, while the core trio of the band (Riggleman along with drummer M Tivis Clark and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Mason Fanning) handled the rest.
For Riggleman, a former peer recovery support specialist at Wheeling’s Youth Services System (YSS), these are the first songs he wrote completely sober. In 2019 after a stint in Harrisonburg, VA, he moved back to West Virginia and lived off the grid in the Monongahela National Forest. His newfound sobriety was born alongside the songs that comprise Restless Spirit.
Tucker Riggleman has been an active musician in the West Virginia DIY music scene for over 17 years. He co-founded alt-country band Prison Book Club (with John R. Miller and William Matheny), garage rockers The Demon Beat (with Adam Meisterhans and Jordan Hudkins of Rozwell Kid), indie rock group Bishops, and punk thrashers RHIN.
Opening the April 5 show at Waterfront Hall will be local indie rockers Mr. Fancy Pants. The longtime regional favorites led by Sean Decker will be celebrating the release of their new album called Doppelgängers.
The show costs $10 to attend, and advance tickets are available on Waterfront Hall’s website. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with Mr. Fancy Pants starting at 9:00 p.m.
