In moments of crisis, the true heart of a community is revealed. On Saturday night, severe flash flooding swept through Wheeling and the greater Ohio Valley, tragically claiming lives and leaving many families displaced, homes and businesses damaged, and livelihoods lost. But alongside the heartbreak, something else has risen — a wave of compassion, resilience, and neighbors taking care of neighbors.
Cleanup efforts began immediately on Sunday morning, with volunteers and organizations across the region stepping up to support those in need. As Wheeling Heritage and Weelunk, we have seen firsthand the overwhelming desire from our community to lend a hand and make sure no one walks through this alone.
Whether you’re someone who needs help or someone ready to give it, we’ve pulled together as many up-to-date resources as possible. This guide includes information on cleanup efforts, donation drop-offs, food distributions, health services, and more — all driven by the people who make Wheeling what it is: strong, connected, and full of heart.
We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
