Wheeling Symphony Board of Directors Announces Second Annual Bourbon Raffle Fundraiser

The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors is holding a Rare Bourbon Raffle Fundraiser beginning on February 1.  Three winners will each receive four coveted bottles – one each of Weller 12, E.H. Taylor, Eagle Rare and Old Forester 1920. Only 225 tickets will be sold at $50 each. The three winners will be drawn on April 15, 2022, at the WSO’s Capitol Concert Series “The Ladies of the Great American Songbook” concert.   All proceeds will support the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

In 2020, the WSO Board of Directors launched its first Rare Bourbon Raffle when its traditional live auction event was scuttled due to the pandemic.  WSO Board Members Vicky Musicaro and Stella Boldrick, who spearheaded the inaugural raffle, found the format to be quite popular with bourbon and symphony lovers alike.  For this year’s installment of the raffle, WSO Board Members Kim McCluskey and Daniel Young have joined forces with local bourbon enthusiast David Gaiser whose frequent travel to Kentucky for work has proven quite useful to the group.

“We wanted to get some different bottles together this year and had a ‘wish list’ for David Gaiser to take with him to Kentucky,” says Daniel Young.  “David was able to secure some really interesting varieties that should definitely draw some interest.  We look forward to raising some money for the WSO and making three lucky winners very happy on April 15 when we have our drawing.”

Kim McCluskey noted that this year’s Bourbon Raffle is also different in that sponsors have been secured to help defray the cost of the bourbon prizes and drive more profit to the Symphony. “We are very grateful to have the support of several sponsors for the Bourbon Raffle this year,” says McCluskey. “We will be thanking them with a special bourbon tasting event hosted by the Bridge Tavern.”
