Put Your Wheeling Women’s History Knowledge to the Test Tomorrow!

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Wheeling Heritage is hosting a free Women’s History Month Trivia Night on Tuesday, March 14. The event will take place at River City beginning at 6 p.m. and is open to all trivia enthusiasts.

This event is an excellent opportunity for people to learn and celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women throughout history. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes and enjoy a fun evening with friends.

“We are thrilled to host a trivia event that celebrates Women’s History Month,” said Alex Panas, Program Manager at Wheeling Heritage. “We hope that attendees will learn and appreciate the incredible contributions made by women in Wheeling and West Virginia throughout history.”

The trivia game will consist of four rounds with categories that include “Women in Sports” and “Monumental Wheeling Women.” Three questions will be included in each round, plus one halftime and one final question. In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker question will be asked to determine the top team. Questions are designed for a general audience, but to brush up on your Wheeling history knowledge, Panas suggests checking out Weelunk, Ohio County Public Library, and Archiving Wheeling to prepare for the event.

Questions for the trivia event were prepared by Wheeling Heritage intern, Summer Whelan. Summer is currently a senior at Bethany College who is double majoring in history and religious studies. Helping plan this event allowed her to use her research skills to create informative, yet accessible, history questions for a general audience. While Whelan isn’t originally from the Wheeling area, this project provided an opportunity to dig deeper into subject matter that isn’t a part of her regular college curriculum and learn more about what makes Wheeling special.

The event will be hosted by local artist and trivia master, Kellie Ahmad. Kellie is the owner and craftswoman of Rust Belt Stained Glass Works, which offers the restoration and repair of stained glass windows. In her free time, Kellie enjoys hosting Clientele Art Studio’s monthly trivia nights as an additional creative outlet and is excited to partner with Wheeling Heritage for this special trivia event focusing on influential Wheeling women.

Don’t miss this exciting event! Team registration begins at 6 p.m.; trivia begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Learn more by visiting wheelingheritage.org.
