HomeHappeningsLocal Student Invited To Global Summit Weelunk Staff June 15, 2015 Amber Parsons, a 17-year-old senior at Wheeling Park High School was recently selected from more than 2,500 other students to be an ambassador at the Global Youth Leadership Summit in San Diego, Calif., from Aug. 3-8, 2015. She will be attending the summit along with other youth leaders from nearly every country in the world! Amber went through several rounds of applications and selection processes before being formally invited to be an ambassador at the summit. She is the only ambassador from the Tri-State and the entire state of West Virginia! She is representing the local and state community to other youth leaders from around the world! Some of her accomplishments that earned her this honor of selection are an overall 4.4 grade-point average, her church and civic work, and raising funds for several charities. She has raised almost $5,000 alone for childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in the last 12 years. The last step before going to this life-changing week is to raise the funds needed for travel and the summit. Utilizing multiple means of fundraising, Amber is offering back to the community for sponsoring her! Besides a sponsorship letter campaign, along with fundraising efforts from bake sales to concerts being planned, Amber has a “youcaring” crowd funding account for the community to help support her trip: http://www.youcaring.com/amber-parsons-365769. Amber has committed that each time she reaches another $100 in donations, the following will occur: She will perform one hour of community service; and Amber’s family photography company will donate a senior picture package to a deserving senior in the Tri-State who could not afford to get them done any other way. (In this way, your generosity is helping twofold!) https://www.facebook.com/events/1460247590940491/ Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
