Born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia, Glenn Elliott is a 1990 graduate of the Linsly School, a 1994 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and a 2001 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. After nearly a decade working as a corporate attorney in Washington, D.C., he returned home to Wheeling in 2009 and became actively involved in the local community. In 2013, he purchased the historic Professional Building in Downtown Wheeling as a multi-year preservation project; today, this once-vacant structure now houses four small businesses and serves as the home for Elliott, his wife, Cassandra, and their two young children, Harrison and Harper. In 2018, he obtained his broker’s license and founded Route 40 Realty, LLC, the area’s only real estate brokerage focused primarily on property management. During the years 2016 to 2024, Mr. Elliott served as Mayor of Wheeling and helped usher in an unprecedented era of public and private investments in downtown revitalization, new housing construction, parks and recreation enhancements, and long-overdue new headquarters for its police and fire departments. As a result of his efforts, Wheeling gained recognition as one of the fastest-growing economies in West Virginia, and the West Virginia Municipal League recognized him as the “Mayor of the Year” in 2022 and as the recipient of the “James Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2023.
