Hairitage on Market

Joan Crawford once said, ā€œI think that the most important thing a woman can have- next to talent, of course- is her hair dresser.ā€ Luckily, for Wheeling and the rest of the surrounding Ohio Valley, its newest hair salon, Hairitage on Market, offers two of the very best hairdressers in the business. Co-owners Ashley Hood and Ciarra Beaver opened Hairitage on Market in January of 2026. Both women graduated from Scott’s Cosmetology Beauty School in 2015 and have been making the people of Wheeling, feel beautiful ever since.Ā

Ashley and Ciarra have been best friends since 2014, supporting one another through beauty school, weddings, and having children. Working with a bestie is the dream, but for Ashley and Ciarra it is reality. They love having fun with one another, which really shows when you are in their salon for a service. Not only are they phenomenal hairstylists available to us in Wheeling, they are confidence boosters, confidants, advice givers, and great listeners. They are girls’ girls through and through, and will make you feel at home immediately once you step into their space.Ā

Old Building, New Business

Hairitage on Market is located in the heart of downtown Wheeling in the historic Max Crone & Co. building at 1310 Market Street—a space that has long been tied to style, craftsmanship, and the rhythm of Market Street itself. For decades, Crone’s Clothiers was a staple of downtown Wheeling, outfitting generations of locals and contributing to the bustling commercial life of the city before closing in 2009. Today, that legacy of personal service and attention to detail lives on in a new way.

Inspired by Wheeling’s heritage, the salon is comfy, cozy, yet chic, utilizing wood tones and natural elements throughout the space. I find this to be a perfect metaphor for downtown Wheeling as a whole—it’s the familiar, welcoming downtown we’ve always known, now paired with so many thoughtful, modern additions. Inside the salon, you’ll find artwork inspired by our great city and large windows that look out onto Market Street. (Personally, I like to imagine the hustle and bustle of downtown Wheeling in its earlier days while sitting in Ashley’s chair.)

For Ashley and Ciarra, being located downtown is intentional. They love watching this part of Wheeling continue to grow and evolve and feel deeply connected to the rising sense of community around them. They’re proud to be part of the building’s next chapter—and honored to contribute to the ongoing rebirth of downtown Wheeling.

Services Available

Hairitage on Market offers a magnitude of services including: hair coloring, blonding, balayage, hand-tied extensions, ktip fusion extensions, brazilian blowouts, blowouts/styles, formal hairstyles, spray tans, short cuts, and men’s cuts. In addition, they do beautiful work for weddings, homecomings, proms, and other special occasions. Both stylists are mothers to young children, and are exceedingly patient with littles, so if you are looking for someone to cut your child’s hair, as well, they are truly a one-stop shop! Both women have an uncanny ability to make people of all ages extremely comfortable in their chair.Ā

My personal favorite service offered at Hairitage on Market? Definitely the hand-tied extensions! Growing up, my hair would never grow past my shoulders and after damaging it through the use of extreme heat with hair straighteners, blow dryers, etc. Ashley has made my hair the healthiest it has ever been. In fact, she debunked the myth that hair extensions would cause more breakage when I first approached her about getting hand tied extensions to achieve the hair I had always dreamed of having, but had not been blessed with genetically. Thanks to Ashley and her talents, not only is my hair healthy, but I finally have hair that can be any length that I want it to be.

I have watched Ciarra do the same for the clients in her chair during my appointments. To some they may just be doing hair, but to me and many others, they are building confidence and making women feel good about themselves and the way that they look. Vidal Sassoon said it best when he stated, ā€œHairdressers are a wonderful breed. You work one on one with another human being, and the object is to make them feel so much better, and to look at themselves with a twinkle in their eye.ā€ This sums up the work of Hairitage on Market perfectly. I have seen the twinkle in the eyes of others, and I have had the twinkle in my own.Ā

Length or volume needed? Extensions are the way to go!
