Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s annual Labor Day program, Music Under the Stars, will feature guest artist Jeans ’n Classics for “A Night at Woodstock.” The program begins at 7:30 pm, Sunday Sept. 2, at Anne Kuchinka Amphitheater, Oglebay Park, Wheeling.

Join the Wheeling Symphony with Jeans ’n Classics as they celebrate this amazing event in rock history, featuring material by Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Who, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, Jefferson Airplane and many more. With songs including “Somebody to Love,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Piece of My Heart” and “With a Little Help from My Friends,” you won’t want to miss this incredible evening of music.

Jeans ’n Classics has previously performed with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra for a number of pops concerts, including the last season’s hit concert the Music of Billy Joel and Elton John. Formed over 20 years ago by Peter Brennan, Jeans ’n Classics’ approach to combining world-class rock musicians and symphonies has been a game changer for orchestras in their quest to attract new and more expansive audiences.

They are a group of musicians who understand orchestra culture and are committed to help in the building of younger, loyal audiences for symphony orchestras across North America.

“The original Woodstock music festival is nearing its 50th anniversary, and we thought what better way to celebrate this amazing moment in music history than to invite our friends from Jeans ’n Classics to perform their program, ‘A Night at Woodstock,’ said Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Bruce Wheeler. “Whether you love the music or want to celebrate Labor Day with family and friends, come and support your Wheeling Symphony through this joyous celebration of peace, love and harmony.”

Music Under the Stars has been a Labor Day tradition for the Ohio Valley and its residents. The concert continues to draw new audiences and donors to witness the caliber and quality of the symphony and its musicians. As the symphony continues its dedication to celebrating its community through accessible programming and concerts, the 2018-19 season starts the search for the WSO’s next music director.  Throughout the season, enjoy the symphony at concerts and events throughout the region to meet these candidates and voice your opinion about the next music director and conductor of the WSO.

Prior to the Sept. 2 concert, the Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary will host its annual veranda reception on the Burton Porch at Oglebay Park. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Glessner Auditorium, inside Oglebay’s Wilson Lodge. Check the Wheeling Symphony’s website and Facebook pages for more information.

Music Under the Stars is free and open to the public. Tickets to the veranda reception are $40 per person.  For reservations, call the office at 304-232-6191.
