Weelunk Weekender

A busy late-April weekend in Wheeling kicks off Thursday evening with the
Charlie Daniels Band at the Capitol Theatre. Charlie always puts on a great show, so don’t miss it.

Friday noon brings us the
OVConnect Statewide Political Luncheon featuring W.Va. Sen. Jeff Kessler, Delegate Shawn Fluharty, and Delegate Erikka Storch. Have a delicious Vagabond Kitchen lunch while offering your state representatives ideas to make the Northern Panhandle’s success a priority in Charleston.

Stick around downtown after work for the
Blue Church Paint-A-Palooza, where as the name implies, you can expect to paint and have fun. And eat free pizza. I doubt an exterior color change is in store, but it’s fun to imagine.

On Saturday, celebrate Earth Day (which was actually Wednesday, but weekends make for better celebrations) at Oglebay’s Schrader Center
Ecofest 2015 with environmentally focused games and activities for all ages.

In the evening, don your best Bogart and Bacall or Pitt and Jolie outfits and head up the hill to Glessner Auditorium for the
West Liberty Great Gala, this year with a fun red-carpet movie theme.

Round out the weekend at the
Hope For Hines 2nd Annual Benefit at Quaker Steak & Lube. In case you missed it, Hines Rotriga was the subject of a Weelunk feature back in November.

And of course don’t forget about the Nailers playoff games both Friday and Saturday. Look for D.J. Abisalih at the games and tell him you read his Weelunk story.
