Whether you’re looking for an invigorating workout or a fresh, flavorful meal, the Flying Spoon—South Wheeling’s own yoga café—has you covered. Located at 87 33rd Street, this one-of-a-kind space, founded in 2023, brings together the passions of Donn McCombs: fitness and food.
Energize Your Body with Yoga Classes for All Levels

In just a short time, Flying Spoon has become a staple for those seeking a space that blends wellness, creativity, and community. Yoga classes are held weekly by appointment or walk in and are open to all skill levels, with each heated session led by different local instructors. One of the key figures behind the yoga program is Kim Aston, an instructor who has been involved since the very beginning. She’s not just a familiar face—she’s been instrumental in making the Flying Spoon what it is today, acting as Donn’s right hand in all things yoga and community.
With spring pop-up events on the horizon, including a special Spring Equinox session, now is the perfect time to get moving and shake off the winter blues.
Savor Fresh, Seasonal Flavors at The Flying Spoon

But if it’s a meal, or a refreshing beverage you’re after, stop by or pick up a to go order from 11-4 Wednesday-Sunday. The Flying Spoon’s menu offers everything from delicious sandwiches and paninis, to protein bowls to freshly pressed juice, and special menu items being rotated in every week, there’s always something new to try, especially with their new culinary creator, Kevin!
Meet Chef Kevin Jones: Bringing Bold Flavors to Wheeling

Some new and exciting energy has joined the Flying Spoon’s kitchen with the arrival of Executive Chef Kevin Jones. Originally from Stanford, Virginia, Kevin brings an impressive culinary background, including time at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C., and a degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA). He was part of the early days of Romano’s Macaroni Grill and The Cheesecake Factory in the D.C. area, helping shape their culinary direction. In 2008, Kevin was a Top Chef runner-up, showcasing his talent on a national stage.
Despite his success, his last role left him feeling creatively stifled, and he longed for an opportunity to experiment and bring new flavors to the table. Looking for a fresh start, Kevin let faith guide him to Wheeling—and now he’s making his mark on the local food scene. In addition to his role at the Flying Spoon, he can also be found behind the kitchen doors at Avenue Eats, bringing his bold and inventive flavors to both locations. He’s already shaking things up at Flying Spoon, introducing exciting dishes with his signature kimchi sauce, which you can catch today in a tuna salad melt! Yum! Keep an eye out for more bold and unexpected flavors making their way onto the menu and in their specials.

Fresh Juice & Big Plans

Donn and Kim are always experimenting with new juice flavors, thanks in part to the high-powered juicer Flying Spoon was able to purchase after winning Show of Hands in September. Right now, the menu features charcoal lemonade, and a peppery pineapple juice is set to debut today! The Show of Hands winnings also helped them complete their back room, purchase the juicer, and hire additional staff—including Chef Kevin.
Exciting Events and What’s Ahead for Summer

As Donn puts it, Flying Spoon is all about being “AF: affordable, available, and approachable with food, friendship, and fitness.”
Looking ahead, live music and outdoor events are on the agenda for the warmer months, further solidifying Flying Spoon as a go-to gathering place in South Wheeling.
