Parkview, Wheeling, West Virginia

Parkview

Parkview as a neighborhood grew with the establishment of Wheeling Park in the early 20th century. Parkview is almost entirely a residential area, however, there are a few scattered businesses. The far northeast extent of Parkview includes Wheeling Park High School, the only public high school in the Ohio County School District.

The neighborhood is directly next to Wheeling Park and its entertainment opportunities include swimming, ice skating, golfing, and walking. It is located very close to the businesses and amenities of Elm Grove, as well as all of the businesses along National Road. Parkview is a great commuting location because it is just minutes away from the intersections of I-470, I-70, and Route 40 (National Road).

Parkview is home to the historic Wheeling Park, which features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, indoor & outdoor tennis courts, a golf course, lake pedal boats & mini golf, and an ice skating rink.

Near the entrance to Wheeling Park, the Madonna of the Trail monument is one of 12 identical Madonna of the Trail monuments erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution and dedicated in 1928 and 1929. The 12 monuments recognize the hardships and sacrifices made by the women who traveled the Old National Trails Road on their way west.
