Pleasanton

Pleasanton is a small neighborhood located at the curve of Wheeling Creek. It is mostly made up of residences, but there are a few businesses and restaurants along Washington Avenue. A large section of the neighborhood is Wheeling University — a private undergraduate and graduate university. The neighborhood used to be known as Mt. de Chantal, after the Mt. de Chantal Visitation Academy, a private school that used to exist on much of the area.

Pleasanton is almost entirely bounded by Wheeling Creek but is a short drive from any needed amenities or businesses. In addition, it is very close to both I-70 or Route 40 (National Road) for commuting and easy access. The neighborhood includes a playground and basketball court and is a short drive away from Wheeling Park.

Pleasanton is one of Wheeling's most walkable neighborhoods. Residents can walk to churches, schools, restaurants, coffee shops, and more.

Pleasanton is home to Wheeling University, the only four-year college located within Wheeling city limits.
